When it comes to life motivation, I find solace in books. I have always been a big reader, even when I was a kid I enjoyed reading about life’s biggest issues. Jacqueline Wilson’s books that address bullying, eating disorders, affairs and divorce were top of my list. I think I’ve always found comfort in an author that can write a story about some of life’s negativities. Recently, I visited a women’s book shop in Ponsonby and found so many amazing books about life.
That day, I bought Grit by Angela Duckworth. Grit is based on a collection of studies aiming to find out whether your measure of “grit” or persistence is worth more when it comes to going the distance in exams, jobs and relationships. Ignore the fact that this book is based on academic studies! It is honestly one of the most readable books I’ve ever come across. It’s pages are full of lists and tables that communicate the idea without leaving you feeling like you’ve read a university paper. It’s honestly so motivational and makes you really evaluate whether you have enough “grit” to see you through the hardest of journey’s. Check it out here!

The second book I recommend is The Life Plan by Shannah Kennedy. Shannah’s book is full of beautiful images, easy-read lists and pages that you fill in yourself. When I first bought this book, I posted a picture of it on my Instagram and she commented (fan girl moment!). I told her I was scared of writing in it because it’s so beautiful haha!
