My After Sun Hair & Skin Routine

Here in Auckland we’ve been treated to some incredible weather this long weekend – aren’t we lucky? Whilst I love hot days, the humidity really gets to me and I’m gonna be honest and say I’ve spent a lot of time in front of the fan instead of on the beach. I did have a couple of sun filled days at my friends pool this got me thinking of how I get my hair and skin looking 100% again after all the heat and chlorine. I have a few go-to products that I use when I’ve been swimming and hanging out in the sun so I thought I’d share these with you today!

Fudge Cool Mint Shampoo

When you’ve been swimming in the sea or a pool and laying out on the sand, your hair picks up so much dirt that isn’t the best for your scalp. I like to use this clarifying shampoo to really cleanse my scalp and get the chemicals from a pool out of my hair. This shampoo is non-stripping and leaves my hair feeling really fresh and the tingly sensation on my scalp is really nice after a hot day.

Joico K-Pak Sun Therapy

This hair mask is literally designed to be used after you’ve spent a lot of time in the sun. It’s super nourishing and controls the frizz that my hair seems to inherit after a couple of days in the sun. This makes my hair feel so moisturised and soft and it’s the perfect thing to use on my hair during the summer months.

Soap and Glory Breakfast Scrub

After a tanning day I love to use a moisturising scrub in the shower. I find that scrubbing away the dry skin helps bring my tan out and who doesn’t love that? 😉

Snow Fairy Body Conditioner

After all that scrubbin’, ya gotta follow up with some moisturiser but I absolutely HATE moisturising when it’s super hot out. I feel like i just sweat it all off again and I feel so sticky – not the goods. I’ve been using this body conditioner from Lush and it’s made it super easy to keen my skin nice and nourished without feeling sticky after a shower.

The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2%

At the end of a long day in the sun, my skin needs some serious attention. I love to use Lactic Acid to help breakdown the layers of sunscreen, saltwater, chlorine and..sweat. I try to avoid anything that’s going to dry out my skin so I always follow up with a super nourishing night cream.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray

There’s nothing like this spray to cool down my skin if I’ve been a bit lazy with sunscreen. This spray contains aloe, herbs and rosewater which are all great at calming the skin and removing redness and irritation. I also use this after a run on a hot day and it’s the nicest feeling!

Love, Lyd x
