Today’s post is going to be my top recommendations for each ‘category’ for a whole face of cruelty free makeup! Cruelty free doesn’t have to mean it’s from a weird corner of the internet made from hemp leaves – there are a lot of high end brands that are cruelty free!
Starting from the very first layer – primer is something I either use or I don’t. I’m not 100% sold that they definitely improve how well my makeup stays on, but I like the finish they give my skin. Some recommendations are Mecca Soft Focus Primer, as well as Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. They both make my foundation go on so smooth, and don’t irritate my skin.
Foundation and Concealer
I’m combining both of these categories – because my recommendations come from the same few brands. For foundation, I use NARS Sheer Glow and my concealer of choice is NARS Radiant Creamy concealer. I also really like Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue and Urban Decay’s Colour Correcting fluid. I’ve also started using the NARS Soft Matte Complete concealer which is great at covering acne scarring. A super affordable concealer is Collection Lasting Perfection concealer which is available in supermarkets for around $15.
Setting Powder, Bronzer and Blush
I used to hate using powder to set my makeup, until I discovered Hourglass Ambient Light powders. I use the colour Diffused Light but also have 3 other shades. I don’t have any other recommendations for powders, as these are the only ones I use. They make your skin look so airbrushed. Your skin won’t look powdery or dry – they give a natural glow. Surprise surprise, my bronzer and blush of choice is also Hourglass. I can recommend the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer as well for a matte option! I’ve used this since last year and it was my go to before I invested in the Hourglass option.
Cream and Powder Highlight
For a cream highlight option that you will never be able to put down, I present to you NARS Multiple in Copacabana. I show everyone this product and not a single person has been able to say no. It sets like a powder and stays all day long. For a powder option, I really like Colourpop Highlight in Lunch Money.
Eyeshadow and Mascara
My go to eyeshadow these days is the Stila Eyes Are The Window palette in Soul. Stila have recently got their cruelty free certification – YAY! My all time favourite mascara is also from them! I use the mascara Stila Huge Lash, as well as Too Faced Better Than Sex which I hated when I first used – but learned to love it!
I am yet to find a lipstick brand I love, but the Colourpop liquid lipsticks are really good! They aren’t so good for dry lips, they tend to stick to cracks and wrinkles a little bit but they really do last all day! If you don’t have dry lips then 100% go for them, definitely worth waiting for them to come in the post!
I hope you enjoyed this post! I’m glad I use so many cruelty free products that I can recommend to you guys! If you have any comments, leave them below and let me know which brands you use from this post!
