Five Ways I’m Going To Relax This Week

Hey everyone! Guess what…I’m officially done with my degree. I literally can’t believe I’m saying that, a few years ago if you’d told me I was going to have a business degree and work in marketing I would have laughed in your face and then cried about working weekends. No lies. But seriously, more on that later – right now, all I wanna do is chill. It’s SO strange coming home after work and having nothing to do. No readings pestering me, no assignments waiting to be proofread. SO WEIRD. Anyway, I thought I’d share with you five things I’m going to be doing more of now that I have my evenings and weekends 100% to myself. Even if you aren’t studying, take a leaf outta my book and relax a lil bit, at least this week okay?

Read

I’m literally so excited to read again! As much as I’ve always loved a good book, reading felt like such a chore when I was already reading so much for uni anyway. I couldn’t help but get SO bored because I was either reading a journal article or proofing my own work and reading an actual book just got mixed up in there too. Some books I’ve got on my shelf that I can’t wait to pick up are Get Your Shit Together, Better Than Before and First, We Make The Beast Beautiful.

Meditation

I used to meditate most mornings and every night and somewhere along the past few months I stopped. I have no idea why! In the mornings, I was so focused on getting up and out of the house that taking 5-10 minutes to myself to clear my mind wasn’t on the cards. Meditating in the morning is incredible, honestly, it sounds so silly but I promise you. Get on YouTube, put on a 10-minute meditation and thank me later ๐Ÿ˜‰

Exercise

You guys..I joined the gym. I have missed working out so much! I used to be so active and loved sports and exercise but throughout uni, it really took a back seat. I know, it sounds like an excuse but I worked 30-40 hours a week and was going to uni most days so the thought of coming home and exercising was not ideal. Super excited to get to some classes and get back in shape! I hope that this can become a habit that helps me relax and unwind after a long day at work.

Write

I’m gonna start writing more. I really enjoy writing, english was always my favourite subject at school and my dream was always to write a book so I’m definitely going to get back into that. Whether or not it makes it on the blog is a different story. Writing helps me relax, it’s like a weight is lifted off my shoulders and my head always feels a little bit clearer.

Learn

I LOVE learning. Taking online courses, reading interesting case studies and discovering new things is such a big passion of mine so now that I have the time, I’m going to start learning again. I think I want to learn more about amphibians. I have this childhood memory of when I was in school in England and we had a frog pond – it was probably my favourite place at school and it brings me so much joy to think back on.

That’s all from me today! If you’ve just finished uni for the year, or for life, what are you gonna spend your time doing now?

Love, Lyd x
